In the early 1900s, Marcel Duchamp started to create his Readymades that were stripping away a function from the functional objects. I wanted to try to reverse that idea and give a second life to objects that got abandoned and already lost their function.
I collected objects that had been given away to second-hand shops – they were one of many in a pile of miscellaneous things. With my photography, I’m trying to give them a second life by placing them in their own, a bit synthetic, world – kind of their own Barbieland.
